Receiving top honors, the BVI's RMS Rhone was voted the top wreck dive in the Caribbean & Atlantic. The destination also earned two top 10 finishes in snorkeling and beginner diving. In addition, the four top 15 finishes include dive destination, marine life, underwater photography and value.

KATS Program

12 members of the Kids And The Sea (KATS) programme were introduced to the world of SCUBA diving last Sat at Brewers Bay. The British Virgin Island SCUBA Organization (BVISO) hosted a Discover SCUBA Diving class for these adventurous young aquanauts. Divers and instructors from Sail Caribbean Divers, Aquaventures, Dive Tortola, Trimarine Boat Company and Paradise Watersports all joined forces to make this a very special day for all involved.

Derrylyn Churchwell, Marc Downing and Tom Gerker from KATS handled all the paperwork and provided a much appreciated after dive lunch. The kids were divided into groups of four and their primary instructor gave a short class encompassing the physics and physiology involved in diving, introduced the equipment and then proceeded to the ocean. Surface support personnel and safety divers accompanied each group.

In the shallow water the students mastered some basic skills before heading out on a dive. Each pair of students had their own instructor as they explored the sand and the reefs of Brewers Bay. The area was swarming with small silversides while every once in a while a large tarpon or snapper would make an appearance. Feather duster worms, hard and soft corals, anemones, butterflyfishes, angelfish, hamlets and sand divers were also sighted.

A good time was had by all and each and every student said they would like to go on & become a certified diver.
